The ACOR 7 conference was held
in Seattle, Washington - USA

March 25-28, 2004

Come to ACOR 7 in Seattle

What do rugs, clams, salmon, mountain vistas, salt-water breezes, espresso, and gray skies have in common? They will all be at ACOR 7 in Seattle! ACOR 7 will take place March 25-28th 2004 at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center on Pier 66 in the heart of Seattle’s downtown tourist district. The agenda is packed with activities to interest collectors and enthusiasts at every level. Here is an overview of what’s in store:

Educate Your Mind

ACOR 7 will feature many opportunities to learn about collectible rugs and textiles. In addition to providing slide lectures and panels featuring experts from around the world, we have also doubled the number of "out-of-the-cedar-chest" sessions; which will maximize your opportunity to examine several outstanding collections in a small group setting.

Delight Your Eye

The Bell Harbor International Conference Center has over 9,000 square feet of exhibition space, which will be used to mount several exhibitions featuring rugs and textiles from local, west coast, and international collections. You’ll see Turkmen weavings, Persian prayer rugs, Afshars, a group of recently-published Manastir kilims, ikats, selections from Northwest collections, and a small display of Chilkat blankets made by the Tlingit people of Southeast Alaska.

Add to Your Collection

ACOR 7’s Dealers’ Row is the perfect place to look for your next acquisition. With more than 60 leading dealers from Asia, Europe, and across the US, you will be sure to find some items that you cannot leave behind. Bring an extra suitcase – you won’t want to go home empty-handed!

Come Early and Stay Late

There will be a pre-conference workshop on natural dyes led by Michele Wipplinger. She is a consultant to weaving cooperatives around the world, and she will focus on the process of dyeing wool using materials like madder and indigo. Also, please consider spending some extra time enjoying the city of Seattle. The conference venue is close to the historic Pike Place Market and the Pioneer Square gallery district, and there are many interesting attractions nearby.

Register NOW!

The registration fee is $375 per person. This fee admits you to all conference programs, exhibits, Dealers’ Row and the two receptions (including the ACOR Costume Contest). We have reserved rooms at two hotels adjacent to the conference center. The new Marriott, where almost every room has a water view, and the Edgewater Hotel, a Seattle landmark located over Puget Sound on Pier 67 (their tagline used to be "fish from your window".) Your hotel reservations will be made for you through ACOR based on your registration form request. You may register online or by using the ACOR 7 registration form. Hotel and conference confirmation will be mailed to you within 30 days. We urge you to make your reservation early, as the hotels and the pre- and post-conference events may fill up fast.
